We have been renting these tools for many years and we regularly get asked if we would just sell the tools outright instead of rent them. So we are now offering customers a purchase option if they wish to keep the tool kit, while also still providing the rental service. Need to replace the timing belt on your Colorado/Canyon 2.8L Duramax? You’re going to need several specialty dealership-only shop tools, which are expensive and difficult to source.

GM specifies a 150,000 mile timing belt change interval. However, we recommend planning for this service at 100,000 miles. The 2.8L diesel is an “interference” engine, so a broken belt will cause the valves and pistons to collide (or interfere). As a result, damage involving bent valves and, in some cases, a broken piston can lead to daunting repairs. Better to be safe than sorry, and replace the belt on the early side.

Rental Details:

The rental period is 14 days (not including time in transit) and includes free return shipping. You have the tools for a full 2 weeks.  If you do not request a return label within 14 days after delivery, the tool kit will be yours to keep.

• 14-day rental period. You have the tools for a full 2 weeks after delivery.
• Return shipping included.
• Refundable deposit: $600. If you request a return label within 14 days after delivery, you’ll be eligible for a $600 refund.
• IMPORTANT: If you do not request a return label within 14 days after delivery, the tool kit will be yours to keep. Tools must be received within 30 days from the order date.

IMPORTANT – RENTAL TERMS:

• You have the tools for 14 days weeks starting the day after carrier delivery. The rental period is a full 2 weeks between the date of delivery to date of return shipment.
  
• If you request a return label within 14 days after delivery you will be eligible for a $600 refund. Tools must be received within 30 days from the order date.
• IMPORTANT: If you do not request a return label within 14 days after delivery, the tool kit will be yours to keep. This will be treated as a purchase.
• IMPORTANT: If we do not receive the tools within 30 days from the order date, the shipment will be refused.
• Only available in the Continental United States. We do not ship tools to Alaska, Hawaii or to any international/overseas destinations.
• You may not extend your rental period. Please plan accordingly.
• Acquire and verify all parts and supplies before you rent the tools.
• This rental service is intended for professional mechanics and experienced “do-it-yourselfers”. We do not provide troubleshooting for timing belt replacement procedures or issues.
• Your deposit will be reduced accordingly for damaged or missing tools.
