Why do you need a one of our ProVent kits?
The crank case vent system sends oil vapor from the crank case into the intake right before the turbocharger. This oil vapor causes a variety of problems, including breakdown of intercooler hoses. The worst problem is clogging in the intake manifold. Oil vapors combine with soot from the EGR to form a thick, black, carbon paste that coats the inside of the intake manifold, inlet ports and intake valves. This crud builds up, literally choking the engine from receiving air into the cylinders. Oil vapors also accumulate in the intercooler, reducing its efficiency.
Filtering out the oil vapors not only prevents the breakdown of intercooler hoses, but also renders the soot in the EGR mostly harmless. Without the oil vapors, the EGR soot will not be able to build up in the intake system, rendering the soot from the EGR mostly harmless.
