Installing a Cummins E7181M lift pump in your Liberty CRD eliminates air-in-fuel issues, reduces wear on the high pressure CP3 pump, and improves cold weather starting. This upgrade is among the most important for the Liberty CRD. This vehicle should have had the fuel lift pump right from the factory, but it appears that the bean-counters nixed this idea to keep costs down. This is the main reason why CRD engines have fuel issues. With a lift pump installed you will experience better starting, especially in cold weather. You may also notice quicker throttle response and the engine runs and idles smoother. You can be sure you never have any fuel aeration issues and never need to hand pump the fuel filter head again.
Installation Note: When installing into a Jeep Liberty 2.8L CRD, the pump’s float arm needs to be modified or swapped from your old pump to ensure accurate fuel gauge readings.
