The factory turbo inlet hose is of poor quality and made of rubber. It will eventually rot out due to exposure to crankcase vapors and engine vibrations, causing it to tear open at the turbocharger inlet. This allows unfiltered air into the turbocharger which can damage the turbocharger.  Owners will find themselves replacing the factory rubber hose multiple times due to repeated failures due to the design flaws of the factory part.
